Dignidad Rebelde

On Saturday Sept 6th, 2-4pm, Looking Back: A Print Workshop will share screen printing techniques and free posters with visitors as part of 5x5 opening weekend.

METRO: NoMa-Galludet

Looking Back is a graphic mural activating a separation wall on the corner of 1st and N Street in NoMa. The NoMa neighborhood has recently undergone intensive development and will experience more as the entire city grows. This mural considers how past histories and indigenous ecologies and rising gentrification and housing policies will affect future generations. Local youth in the area might find themselves soon without a home. Working with DC-artist DECOY, this mural combines screenprinted and painted patterns and prints with portraits of youth to illuminate NoMA’s invisible past and future.

Dignidad Rebelde is an Oakland-based graphic artist collective of Jesus Barraza and Melanie Cervantes.
